Avoiding Negative Vibrations

Posted by admin on Oct 07 2008 | Inspirational

Taking on the Energy of Others There are times when you may find that being around certain individuals or groups of people leaves you with feelings of discomfort. It may be that spending time with a particular friend feels draining or that dealing with a specific coworker exhausts you. Being around toxic or angry people is also draining. And you may even find that being surrounded by a crowd of people lowers your energy levels rather than perks you up. This is not that unusual. Each of us radiates energy and is capable of being influenced by the energy of other people. It is important to learn how to shield yourself, so you don’t unknowingly take on someone else’s energy. While some people know how to instinctively protect themselves from being adversely affected by energy, most of us need to discover and practice the technique that works best.

There are a number of ways to avoid being affected by people’s energy. Shielding is one preventative technique you can use. Center yourself and envision being enveloped in a cocoon of loving and protective light. This protective layer should allow you to consciously regulate the energy around you. The intent to shield oneself is all you need for this technique to work. You can even create a trigger word to assist you in quickly creating a shield. Say this word each time you create a new shield, until the word and the shield become automatically associated in your mind. If you run into a person whose energy you find draining, you may want to cleanse your own energy field after your encounter. Sage, cold showers, singing, mineral water baths, spending time in nature, and a simple break to recharge are all ways to accomplish this.

While it is important to know how to shield yourself from energy, there are those energies that you may not want to shut out. The energy of laughter from a newborn baby, the feeling of joy radiating from someone in love, and the frequency of calm emanating from an enlightened teacher are just some of the energies coming from others that you may want to have around you.

Yoga and separation of church and state?

Posted by admin on Oct 04 2008 | Uncategorized

This is quite something….

MASSENA, N.Y. - A group of parents and religious leaders in upstate New York want yoga classes out of public schools, saying the instruction violates boundaries between church and state.

Two high school teachers began using yoga last year to help students relieve stress before exams. Special education teacher Martha Duchscherer and Spanish teacher Kerry Perretta also were developing a districtwide program.

But those plans were halted after parents and others in the community complained students were being indoctrinated in Hindu rites.

Newest article for Assisted Living

Posted by admin on Oct 02 2008 | Health

I have been helping out with a site that deals with assisted living.   It is a national site that basically lists facilities’ photos and information.   The site is starting to include articles about assisted living in terms of news, or informational articles for people who are looking into assisted living for a loved one or for themselves.

The article that I contributed recently was “How to open an assisted living facility“  and has already started getting some positive comments.   One of the most common questions the site gets is “How do I open a facility.”

Since assisted living isn’t federally regulated, each state is different in terms of laws and red tape.  The article is meant to be a starting point for anyone and lists some good resources for people to look at.

Remembering Richard Wright - Pink Floyd

Posted by admin on Sep 15 2008 | Inspirational

Richard Wright, a founding member of Pink Floyd, died today.   Thank you for the great music!  I was on my evening run tonight,  the sun was going down behind the mountains and there were millions of bright yellow flowers in the fields next to the trail when “On The Turning Away” started on my IPOD.  A really special moment and a nice way to remember this great musician.

Happy Birthday Illa!

Posted by admin on Sep 11 2008 | Family

We tried to find a good e-card for you but all of the ones available out there are really cheesy, so Bubbie, Joelle and I thought a nice impromptu video from your number one fan would be the most appropriate birthday card!  Here it is - we love you, and Happy Birthday!!!

A little footwear plug here

Posted by admin on Sep 05 2008 | Uncategorized

I know it is no secret that I still do some work for the Pedestrian Shops in Boulder.  I can’t believe it’s been about 7 years!  Gee whiz.  Anyways, it’s been great and they are great folks to work with.

We have redone our site, and we’re trying to work on their rankings, and I am (I’ll admit) using this post as a shameless plug for a particular shoe to see if we can get it more search visibility.   I like Patagonia products, so today’s plug will be for the Patagonia Bagley .  A cool looking shoe that has kind of a retro look to it.  Anyways, a shoe I would wear.

So that’s my shameless product plug for the day.

Undistracted Energy

Posted by admin on Aug 26 2008 | Uncategorized, Woo Woo

Another good one from the DailyOm.com

Undistracted Energy
Pure Thoughts

If we make no effort at all, our thoughts usually scatter in a vast array of directions. They start and stop and move in surprising ways from one second to the next. If we try to follow our thoughts without controlling them, we will be amazed at how truly inconsistent they are. Yet, if we apply our minds to a specific task, especially one that interests us, they gather together and allow us to focus our attention, creating great power and energy. This is what is known as pure thought, because it is undistracted.

The law of attraction—like attracts like—influences all energy, including our thoughts, and this is what makes pure thought so potent. Our undistracted thoughts create a powerful magnet that draws similar energy into our vibrational field. As a result, the longer we are able to hold positive thoughts in our minds, the more powerful the positive energy around us becomes. We don’t need to focus on action and controlling so much when we are surrounded by energy that draws what we want toward us. We can simply respond to the opportunities that naturally come our way. When this is the essence of our experience, we can go with the flow, knowing that we will be okay.

If pure thought is a body, it is our emotions that supply the heart that can really bring it to life. Our thoughts and feelings exist in relation to one another, and they form a feedback loop through which they communicate and empower each other. When we hold a thought in our mind without being distracted, we have achieved pure thought. When we have a positive emotional response to that thought, we enable it to dance and move and breathe itself into existence.

Facebook and Tucson

Posted by admin on Aug 26 2008 | Friends

I recently opened a facebook account just to see what the hype was all about.   It was amazing that almost immediately people from way back in my distant past started contacting me.  A pleasant surprise so far.

I have had a few friend requests from folks in Tucson (I recently added an assisted living facilities Tucson page on a site that I do a little work for) that I may never have thought of again had they not contacted me through facebook.

I have several friends from when I worked at the Arizona Inn in Tucson who have probably changed names by now (thorough marriage) or that I have just lost touch with that I’d like to say hello to.  Maybe they’ll find me on facebook.

Anyways, so far a pretty good experience.
